01

Check the room after removal

Look for damaged wallboard, weak floors and old pipework. A shower places regular water on different areas, so the full enclosure needs a suitable finish.

02

Use the width well

A larger tray or level-access area is usually more comfortable than a narrow enclosure. Keep enough dry floor beside the toilet and basin.

03

Make controls easy to reach

Place the mixer where the water can be started without standing under a cold spray. Add a hand shower, seat or support now if it will make use easier.

What to remember

Treat it as a small renovation, not a product swap. The preparation is what makes the new shower last.
