01

Check what the fan actually does

Note whether it starts with the light, continues afterwards or responds to humidity. Do not remove covers or enter electrical parts unless you are competent to do so safely.

02

Airflow problems may sit in the duct

Dusty grilles, stuck shutters, crushed flexible duct and long cold runs can make a working motor ineffective. The outlet outside also needs to open freely.

03

Choose an upgrade around the room

Capacity, noise, duct resistance and control type matter. Electrical work in a bathroom must follow the correct zones and protection requirements.

What to remember

Describe sound, switching and airflow separately. It helps distinguish a control fault from a poor duct route.
